The thread title pretty much explains it! What games have you beaten this year?

*Since the 2015 Completion thread was deleted by a glitch, I would suggest everyone keeps a running Google Doc for their completed games along with updating this thread. That way you can always have a running list!

I should have finished this months ago...

1. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (+DLC) [PS3]

A.k.a. "Gabe of War." I wasn't expecting a traditional Castlevania by any means, but I couldn't help but think it felt like almost a direct ripoff of the God of War games. Still, minor gripes aside, it was a fun game, and it was interesting to watch Anakin's Gabriel's transformation into Darth Vader Dracula, which was the main reason these particular titles caught my attention. (Saw a trailer for LoS2 from E3 a while back.) Actually, on that note, the jump from end credits to the epilogue (same as aforementioned trailer, IIRC) felt like it left an awful lot out, although I was already aware I had two more chapters to play via DLC. The DLC chapters provided the literal transformation, albeit via a somewhat bullshit story extension (nice to see Laura return, though), but it still feels like a lot is missing... I'm hoping Mirror of Fate HD will help to fill the gap more, though I'm not sure when I may get around to playing that. (Kind of in the mood for an RPG at the moment.)

My first of the year!

1. Wolfenstein: The Old Blood [01/09/2016]
2. The Walking Dead Season 1 [01/16/2016]
3. Deadpool [01/23/2016]

2. Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea

Nice. Actually managed to squeeze in a whole JRPG within the same month of my previous completion. Off to a good start. ...So I say, but I'll be immediately replaying it, as I pretty much always do with these games. New Game+ via Shallote's route this time, and since Hardcore wasn't -quite- difficult enough, and they offered a new difficulty mode, I may as well try Despair. (Shame there're no trophies based on the difficulty settings.) Just... lemme go back and make some final touches on what I want to carry over to NG+ first. ^^;

Anyway, gameplay-wise, I'd say it was fantastic. More or less the same as what Escha & Logy had to offer. However, I feel like the plot was somewhat lackluster; as was the cast. (Also, Tecmo Koei continues to fuck up all over the script and menus. I wish NIS America could get the franchise back.) Homura is pretty much the highlight party member, although Miruca's got a little charm to her as well. (It goes without saying that Keith is boss, and perhaps arguably the main character of this trilogy as a whole.) Shallistera was a fairly weak protagonist, but she held things together well enough, I suppose. Shallotte is pretty much downright appalling overall. (I'm hoping playing the game from her perspective will change that, but I'm not expecting much.) Even the few named NPC's weren't really anything that spectacular. And a lot of interactions felt rather... jarring. Out of place. Unnatural. Sometimes simply incomprehensible. (Chalk that last one up to poor translation, maybe?) ...Despite these complaints about the story and characters, though, I still found it to be an overall enjoyable game. I think Atelier Escha & Logy was an overall more enjoyable experience, but this game held its own and provided plenty of hours of entertainment.

With the Dusk trilogy complete now (on that note: I kind of wish they wrapped up the trilogy's overall plot more, but what was provided was sufficient), I'm curious to see where the series will go with the new games and the jump to PS4 (albeit PS3 as well). I believe I mentioned this elsewhere on here, but if anyone hasn't played these games yet and is interested, I definitely recommend starting with the Dusk trilogy. Aside from Tecmo Koei's abundant fuck-ups, the trilogy has been a huge step (or several?) in the right direction for the series, and I hope to see even more improvements in the future.

1. Wolfenstein: The Old Blood [01/09/2016]
2. The Walking Dead Season 1 [01/16/2016]
3. Deadpool [01/23/2016]
4. Final Fantasy VII [02/06/2016]

Just finished the platinum for Final Fantasy VII PC Port. It's my favorite game of all time and the nostalgia just rushes over you playing it. Funny thing about it is; I'm not sure if I'm more excited or worried about the Remake.

There are things I think could absolutely use updating and improving but there are gameplay elements that if changed could ruin the game completely. I'm scared at where that balance will land.

I guess only time will tell...

1. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (+DLC) [PS3]
2. Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea

3. Life Is Strange [PS4]

What an experience. A few minor gripes on the critical side, most of which are the usual problems with this type of game or with time travel-based stories, but ultimately, who cares... Everything came together to form a solid product and an enjoyable experience. As long as you enjoy these story-focused, choice-based adventure games (or "interactive drama," as Heavy Rain put it), I see no reason not to play this one, so if that's your jam, I'd recommend giving it a go.

Glad to hear you enjoyed Life is Strange. I've been meaning to pick it up since they released the retail version. I'll probably look for it this week.

Been a while since I've visited here! Gonna toss my two cents, even if it's not much. So far, I've beaten Borderlands the PreSequel, Project Diva X , rebeat Mirai, Picross 3D Round 2, Rhythm Heaven Megamix, Pac Man Championship Edition 2, Tales of the Borderlands Ep1., Rabi Ribi, Mugen Souls 1, Blanc vs Zombies, and Sonic Lost World. So far it's all been good except for Diva X and Pac Man. Currently working on Doom ps4, FF 15, and the other Tales of the Borderlands episodes. Hoping to get Doom at least done before 2016 ends.
