No, they are country locked. A US card doesn't work in Canada, even though they are the same region for other thing like game releases (North American).

At $14, it's a solid way to know if you're gonna like the series, the characters, the game mechanics, etc. If so, then you could get a used copy pretty cheap online, and go from there.

Funny, I found the combat to be a bit lacking, specially at the beginning. It gets a bit better the more girls you recruit, though. It's pretty bad, specially at the beginning. It gets a bit better the more you advance, but it's definitely censored compared to the original Japanese release.

I completely agree. Not only it was fine to begin with, but after all the censorship is not even fun. The minigames to "motivate" the girls are basically a pink background (where the girl used to be), and a somewhat boring mechanic. They ruined that aspect of the game for me.

I don't know about Disgaea, SRPGs are a bit less accessible than other sub-genres, I think. I can definitely recommend Re;Birth1 as I had a lot of fun with it, but again, not for everyone.

That final fantasy HD remake is such a great deal at $30 for two awesome games, you can't really go wrong.
